My three new design books

Posted by James Reeve on Thu 21st January, 2010

After being a good boy in 2009 Father Christmas brought me three great design books. I can’t wait to get stuck into them and will post a book review on each very soon.

The three books are:

The Web Designer’s Idea Book

A Practical Guide to Designing for the Web

The Smashing Book

Now, what one should I start with…

Book Review – How to Be a Graphic Designer, Without Losing Your Soul

Posted by James Reeve on Wed 9th December, 2009

It is one of the best pick up/put down books I have read, with great interviews from top design professionals such as Neville Brody. The frank approach to advice from an industry guru is easy to relate to, whilst providing an insightful view into a designers mind. It is also a great looking book with unique front cover and content layout.

I highly recommend this book, buy from Amazon.co.uk

Book Review – The Visual Dictionary of Graphic Design

Posted by James Reeve on Wed 14th January, 2009

Don’t know your Bauhaus from your Zeitgeist, or your Overprint from your Saturation, then this is the book for you. Even if you are a seasoned pro this book provides a point of reference for over 250 of the most commonly used terms in the graphic design industry.

This has to be one of the best quick reference guides for designers out there. It is even a visually appealing book in itself and styles each page according to the term explained.

I highly recommend this book, buy from Amazon.co.uk
